Water in Fuel Idiot light

Ok - it came on while playing in the mudd today - so I drained the filter, refilled it with fuel, primed the lines again, and the dang idiot light is still on. After letting it run for a fet - it will go off, but then come right back on again...

Suggestions, Smart remarks???
You may have to pull the filter out and clean the WIF sensor. Facing the filter from the drivers side, you'll see a connector going into the housing on the bottom left side of the housing. Inside is the sensor. Carefully clean off the sensor and that should solve your problem.

I've also had water get in the plug where it hooks up to the filter housing and turn the light on. I would usually take the electrical plug apart and shoot some WD 40 in the connections and wipe that out just leaving a film in the connectors. It would go out every time. That thing is very sensitive to moisture.

Yep, zackly what he said. It takes less moisture to set these things off that will fit on the head of a pin. As soon as it dries and breaks one leg of the circuit, out goes your light. Next time it comes on, break the connection and spray it and see if it doesn't go out after you double check the filter housing of course.

Don't worry dude, it does that all the time. If I powerwash the underside of my truck or bring it through a car wash it goes on. It just needs some time for the water to dry off of it.

I have had this exact same problem after washing engine. On mine it was simply the 2-prong connector at the WIF sensor that is NOT water proof. Disconnect and wipe dry then coat with vaseline.
