Tell the hole story , how much water & how did it get in there ?
The best way would be to drop the tank & raise the bed , remove the sending unit & use a wet dry vac .
Something to emulsify the water , alcohol , use an additive that has a brand name we know , Power Service ect. , that is labeled to remove water , by emulsifying [ breaking down the water so very small parts so as to mix with fuel ] .
I could not tell you how to remover the wart .

find the lowest part of the tank, drill a hole, let it drain, then put a self taping screw with a small amount of silicone, let it set up overnight.

Still depends on how much water were talking about. I don't think I would want to drill a hole in my tank. If it's alot of water, I'd lift the bed, but would also prepare to do the tank vent mod that would allow about 8 more gallons to fit. I'll search and see if i can find the thread about it.

I believe this is the thread. It's a mod that lets you get 5 1/2 more gallons. I'm gonna do it one day.

Use a wet dry vac to remove combustible liquid and vapor? Sure wouldn't use it for flamable liquid and vapor but I'm not so sure I would be comfortable using it on the lightest combustible liquid and vapor either.

Were talking about diesel, not nitro. The worst thing will be the oily shop vac mess. If your too worried about it, drop the tank, dump it out, then do the mod and put it back. Of course with a full tank, you better have The Hulk on standby. How much does 30 gallons of fuel weigh?

I agree 1-2-3, I've used diesel to try and start fires. It doesn't light until it gets a large heat source. Not just a small flame or spark.

Remind me to never let you borrow my vac.
It wouldn't blow up but what a mess.

I was going to post up a new thread but since we are in the very same boat Miles I hope you don't mind if I bud in here? I filled up my truck today and drove it a couple of miles back to work and shut her down. I jumped in and as soon as it fired off the water in fuel light came on and she started to shudder and smoke bad so I'm thinking this really bites!! Anyway my truck was converted to run on grease some time ago and I have many many miles on it on the grease I have a glass filter with no element in line so that I can see if I have any air leaks? Well if water in Diesel looks like Milk that is my problem! The worst part is it's far from home and the owner of the station is in denial and won't even call me back!
Guy's I have never had this problem before only read about it and pittied the poor soles...... Bill you have saved my Bacon on more occasions when I was a rookie at the diesel thing how's about one more time..........Sorry bud didn't mean to steal your post........

That's right. Not unless the wet vac really atomizes the fuel and has a good spark, then I would be worried

But I too say just drop the tank, drain, poor some sort of additive in the tank and swish it around, dump out, let dry and then check the walls for dampness, etc. It's not hard to drop the tank (granted your nuts aren't rusty!).

Warter not the problem

The LIFT pump is the culprit after all after putting 5-6 full filters the lift pump craped out slowly. Now Dealer says it's not under warranty becomes dodge no longer makes a lift pump for my truck thy now put it in the tank NOT my fault thy don't make it .

Stick a FASS or other aftermarket on there.

Better filtration, easier to change alongside the read, less expensive.

Miles PH, if your truck is under 100k and under 5years old from date of delivery it should be covered under the 100K engine warranty as the fuel pump in it's original form is part of the engine package. If over 5 years then there is a $100 deductable for the repair. Repair consists of removing the on filter fuel pump, and installing an in tank pump with various electrical and plumbing changes. Many will tell you the in tank pump is no good, but I had mine for over 75K with no problems. The exchange to the intank pump is a warranty item and many have had it done. If this dealer still says "No" find another dealer as he is wrong. The filter mounted pump was discontinued due to it's many failures and the in tank was the fix, not the best but it works.
