Voltage Problems
Well, I will try to repost this again. I just lost everything. While driving into Lodi last night I had my volt meter start dropping followed by a check gauges light. I had code P2502 come on and stay on. if I shut the truck off it will go out and stay out for a little bit. I am now at Geweke Dodge in Lodi, Ca. and they are having trouble figuring it out. the mechanic here said something about the voltage regulator being part of the ECM. If that is truly the problem I see my truck sitting here for a while. what else can I look at as being the culprit in this. I would think that the alternator would be the best bet. But, I don't know if that has already been tested or not? does anyone have any other ideas? Please?
the alternator should be first thing they should check if it's not putting 14.2 v to the batteries then alt could be bad. From what have read the ecm does control the regulator, but they should be able to temperorily bypass with an external regulator and see if voltage comes back, if yes then ecm bad, if not then alt is bad. no expert or even close but logic seems to work. just some ideas.

Well, this sucks... dealer says PCM fried. Mechanic grounded something allternator/ECM and it came back showing ECM not responding for the charging system. Anyone have one they want to get rid of cheap? Or Know of someone in this area that might have one?
I know when the crankcase position sensor starts to go the computor thinks there's no engine rpms, so no need for the voltage regulator to go on. Mine did that and two places that are electrical specialists wanted to sell me a new alternator. Dealer had new diesel tech, and knew right away what it was.
