Very loud Turbo

Hey guys, I have an issue with my truck. I have a stock air filter system and stuff.....I was pulling a light load up a hill from a stop. It was making around 30 psi of boost then all of a sudden it seemed like the turbo got really loud....like the air filter came off or something...so i looked it all over and everything seems to be fine... Now not pulling a trailer...and not getting on it all the way, I can still get 20psi of boost but it is really loud air sound, like its coming out of the glove box. Any adeas what this could be?

check to see if you blew a boot off the pressurized portion of the intake.

Do you still have the foam pad that sits under the air filter? I installed mine on top (accidentally), and the turbo sucked it through on a hard pull. The turbo was loud as heck afterwards, and the truck lost some power. But the fuel mileage was still awesome! ...anyways, that's why I have an aftermarket turbo.

Well, I looked at the air filter and that looks like it is all there. I did notice that when i turn off the engine...it sounds like there is a air sound coming from somewhere...im going to do the soap test tonight....I was also wondering how you guys pressurized the system from a air hose...you goes use some sort of plug over the turbo and blow air into it or something?

check the intercooler hoses. That happened when I had my '97 12 valve. It sounded cool, but it got sluggish. Hose came off.

Mine sounds just like yours does...I need a rebuild pretty bad, check to see if you have any side to side play in the turbo shaft and let us know how it goes.
