I don't have it handy but there is a high limit and a low limit of the adjustment published by the factory. A tighter setting slightly advances the opening of the valve and extends the period it is open.

This should mean that tighter is higher efficiency and power. As has been mentioned in other threads, the tolerance is quite high and the factory setting does not try to get the all the same but just in tolerance. I have had two of them that were factory setting and while they were in tolerance they were no where near where I would set them.

I have always used the go - no go type of setting valves. I use the 10 and 20 for the no go and usually 8 and 18 for the go. I have never made a test to see if they tighten or loosen with heat, but with my heavy work I feel it better to keep near the optimum listed in the specs. When I am done I can count on being 1 or 2 thousands tighter than stock specs.

My small experience with factory setting have been that several were loose and several tight, but all in tolerance to the specs.

1 deg of slop means 1 deg of retard on cam timing.....the factory gives a yard for thir adj.- I have mine set at thir min spec with good results, In a perfect world there would be no lash.
So to make story longer if you run say 12 thous looser then you have to then your cam timing is off 12 thous too!! And that is alot

Here are the specs.

Here are the specs for valve adjustment straight off of DealerConnect's website.

Intake- 0.006 Minimum-0.015 Maximum
Exhaust-0.015 Minimum-0.030 Maximum

They recommend if they are out of specs to set them at the following.

Intake-0.010
Exhaust-0.020
