2004 ram 3500 on the passanger side behind the battery there is a electric vac pump that started running and never shuts off I am sure there must be a leak but what does the pump do what if i just unhook the electrical ??????????

 

5.9L Diesel Engines With Automatic Trans.
If equipped with a diesel powered engine and an automatic transmission, an electric vacuum pump and vacuum lines are used to supply vacuum to the speed control servo(cruse control). A vacuum reservoir is not used.

I would follow the lines from there back to the pump you may have a sopt that is worn through.
