Vaccum/p.s. Pump Leak
Vaccum/p.s. Pump Leak
JUST PURCHASED A 99 DODGE AND AFTER 1000 MILES THIS LEAK APPEARED BETWEEN WHAT I ASSUME IS THE VACUUM PUMP ON THE DRIVERS SIDE JUST AHEAD OF THE PS PUMP. OIL IS LEAKING OFF THE SHAFT THAT CONNECTS THE TWO. FROM OTHER POST I'VE READ IT SEEMS THIS SEAL IS AVAILABLE FROM NAPA. DOES ANYONE HAVE A PART NUMBER AND A SCHEMATIC OR INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO TEAR IT DOWN TO REPLACE.
THANKS,
DAN

Dan do a search on vacuum pump on this site. There is a thread that will tell you the seal size as well as instructions on how to do it your self. The size of the seal is 28X38X7. The part from NAPA my not have a lip made of Viton material. If it has a butyl rubber lip, it is only good for about 200 degrees. I don't think that's a high enough temp. rating for the motor oil. I was able to find one at International Seal & Packing but they want you to use a dealer. I got one through them via Kaman Bearing. International seal's site is http://www.intsealpack.com Their part# is 28X38X7AV, it is made of Viton.
Good luck, Frank.
