On Vacation Road Trip, Check engine Light on..... Help!

Ok, I think it may be an over boost code. I have the Quad Max Milage module with fooling. Pulling a small hill last night, and the code went off. Not sure its the overboost, but it may be.

Question:

Is there any way to get the code by reading it through the odometer display, or the overhead? I thought there was a trick to do that.

Thanks a bunch for your help!

If I understand the question....there is a way to display codes through the odo. Trun the key from the off to on position three times. The codes should then display

I tried, didn't work. Any other ideas? I'll have 4 heat/cool cycles next time I shut down, so I'll see if it clears.

No driveability issues, so I'm sure it's no big deal.

I used to have a 2003 Ford 6.0, so I got used to dealing with check engine lights!!!! Never failed, everytime on a long trip, the light came on. Now I got the Dodge and bam, check engine light. DANG! Why couldn't the auto manufactures just give you the check engine light number when it came on????

Job security!!

The turning of the key three times is a way to display the codes through the odometer. even if it clears itself the computer will store the codes so u can still look them up online.

P.S. when u do the turning of the key make sure that you leave the key on the third time. do not turn it a fourth time.

And it only works on what, 01 and up, or is it 00 and up?

I didn't think you could use the key thing on the newer dodges I know it works well on the 90s model but didn't think it did on 2000 and up if you have the codes I have the manual

I'm not sure on the 3rd gens but it works on all (except 99 and some do work) 2nd gens up through 02. So 00, 01 and 02 and I believe 98.5 but not 99.

Good luck.

The key trick works on all Rams from '94 to at least '02 except '98, '98.5 and '99
