Truck wrecked...need parts asap
Incidents such as this should serve as a warning for how fast things can go from 0-Oh Crap! Just imagine if someone towing 20k found themselves in this situation. Few people want to realize the danger they are posing to others and the liabilities that they are exposing themselves to.
Exactly. And your own insurance should cover anything that his does not. With all that property damage and injury and fatality, the limits of his coverage could easily be exceeded.

Checkmate, I glad you're OK. Sorry you had to be part of a terrible accident like that. If you are going to file a claim with his insurance, and you should, do it quickly. You need to be first on the list because after the others get done there won't be anything left. I can't speak for Ohio, but my Statefarm agent told me that if a trailer, and he didn't specify what type, was over 17' in length it HAD to be covered separately. My auto policy would not extend to it. Under 17' OK, but not over. Also, there was an intercooler in our classifieds. Rick
Well, I do have a claim in, but as usual they are giving me the run around. They were thinking bout totalling it which was fine with me IF they gave me bluebook and IF I could buy the truck back. BUT they are tellling me that the truck is only worth 16,000 because it has 170,000 miles on it.
So, I am trying to convince them to just fix it. I already picked up a hood for 450 (Fiberglass SRT10 style) Well since Allstate found a used hood for 225, they will only give me 225 for it. So I am trying to get some money back, for example...they are giving me 200 for each headlight since they can't find any used ones. So if I pick up a set for 100 I can pocket 300 and cover the lost $$ on the hood. :-)

Why can't you take it to the dealer and get a quote? Or a good body shop, seems like the insurance company would have to accept there quotes for New parts.
I wouldn't want a bunch of used parts on my truck if the accident wasn't my fault.
Sorry to hear you wee involved inb the accident, but glad to hear you are OK.

In Ohio, they have to let you get it repaired at the location of your choice. Get your insurance agent to help you negotiate with them. They are good at that. Don't give up until you get what you want. If they decide to total it, find a half dozen similar vehicles in auto trader and give to them. I got them from giving me $6000 for my last truck to giving me $13500 for it. It took some legwork to find similar ones, but it certainly paid off.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.
