Truck will not crank
2001 dodge ram 2500 Cummins
I have noticed lately that my 4 yr old red tops were turning the engine kind of slow, I didn't think the truck was going to start Friday when coming out of work.
But it started and got me home and then the truck sat for two days till Saturday night when my son went out to start it. He said it cranked slowly a couple of times and then would no longer turn over.
I went out today, turned on the lights it had lights, turned on the key, the air heater came on and kicked off normally but when turning the key I have nothing, not even a click.
I thought I may still have battery problems so I bought two new Interstate Batteries and put them in. The engine will not crank at all.
The truck is at the curb, no way to get it into the garage. I could probably get to the starter, but don't know if I could get to the connections or not.
I have a code reader but have not tried to pull them, I could do that here in an hour or so. Is there anything I am missing here, something that may not be allowing the starter circuit to kick in?
thanks...gary

thanks guys
I ordered the parts tonight. I checked the starter relay and it was ok. We added 6 more inches of snow over the weekend and the truck was plowed in.
I managed to shovel it out tonight and will try to remove the starter in the next couple of days.
..thanks..gary
