Truck just died
Truck just died
here are the details. Cruising at 65MPH and the fuel presure alarm on the juice goes off and the fuel pressure is at 7PSI. I get off the highway and at idel the fuel presure is at 13-13PSI. I stay on city streets and about a half mile later the truck begins to idle very ruff and then at about 30mph it dies. when I try to start the truck I see that I have no fuel presure. The fuel light is on, this would be the idot light that tells me the fuel tank is close to empty. however the gauge is still showing about 1/8 of of a tank left. A buddy of mine, who owns a Ford, happened to be close and he brings me five gallons of fuel. You can imagine the stuff I had to edure while I was pouring fuel into my truck. I was able to get the fuel presure back to 13PSI after cranking for a few seconds and I could hear the lift pump running. What gives? Why won't it start. The VP44 is just over 1 year old.
The truck is a 99 with the Edge with attitude a 4" exhaust, BD auxillary fuel pump and a AFE intake. Auto trans. Not that that should matter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably ran out of fuel and now you will have to bleed the fuel lines at the injectors. Think it si 1,3 and 5 cracked slightly till while cranking fuel comes out, then tighten them up and hopefully start engine. It may run ruff for a few minutes but will straighten out quickly.
bleeding injectors
I have never tried this. I am looking for a procedure. When you say cracking the lines, do you mean loosening the fittings at the head? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need this truck by Monday. Thanks again.
Bump the starter without starting, let the pump run for 30 seconds and repeat. Hold the pedal down and crank the truck for no longer the 10 sec. at a time, should start.
If that doesn't work, use a 3/4 or 19mm wrench and loosen the number 1 and 3 injector line. Turn the truck over until it tries to start, tighten the lines and start the truck.

Cool! That sound simple enough. I am assuming if I do not see fuel at the injectors, I have a dead VP44. Which would really blow because it is about three months out of warranty. I will get back with the results. Thanks again.
