Unhappy The truck just died and would not start!

My girlfriend bought a 01 2500 2wd quadcab, standard output w/ 5 spd last january. She has not had any problems with the truck so far. Last night she called me on her way home and said her truck quit. I changed the fuel filter at the side of the road, that did'nt help. The fuel gauge said 1/4 tank. The truck has 85k on it, I was thinking it might be the injector pump . We hauled it home and called the dealer today, they said 2001 models have trouble with the fuel gauge. It turned out the truck was out of fuel. A lot better then an injector pump. Anybody else had a similar problem????

There are many folks that have had this problem, and it doesn't just happen to the 01's. Make sure that this problem doesn't happen again (i.e. go by milage instead of the fuel gauge). Every time you run outta fuel, you cut off lubrication to the IP and that will seriously reduce its lifespan.

I'd check for codes and hope that didn't set the IP death code (P0216).
