HELP...Truck just died, dead, no start??
I was cruising along and noticed I was losing speed, then realized nothing changed with more pedal. Truck was dead, so I coasted off the highway and tried to restart. It just spins over. My fuel pressure was good and no misses or any bad behavior at all, the truck was running perfect. This truck has never had any weird running problems like I've read about. Reading the codes from the odometer I get 0500, 0460, 1693, and 0602. I don't remember but I think some of those are always there since the MAD ECM years ago. I hooked up a OBDII scanner and it read just 0602 "ECM Fueling Calibration Error". Has anybody had their truck just go dead like this? One time I had the TPS thing give me a dead pedal, but I don't think it died, and I removed it and cleaned/claibrated it, and never had anymore trouble.
How do you know for sure if the injector pump is bad? This pump has ~90,000 miles on it. I've had many lift pump failures, but I always see the pressure drop on my gauge and change them, so the VP has never starved for fuel.
Where do I start? I guess I'm going to have it towed home.

Is it often that the VP44 goes out without setting a code? I went back with 5 gal. of fuel just to be sure...no start. I towed it home. When I try to start the lift pump is pumping and I've got fuel to the VP. If it threw the death code, I'd be ordering a new VP, but it would suck to replace it not knowing for sure.
Anybody ever replaced one with no code 0216 or 1688 showing?
Anything else could cause a no start with no prior symptoms?

Fixed!! Went out and hooked up the scan tool and continued looking everything over. In the fuse panel under the hood with fuses and relays there is a relay for the fuel system. I figured what the heck, so I pulled it and swapped in the horn relay. Truck fired up ran a little rough for ~45 sec. then perfect. Shut it down and restarted several times with no problems...truck is back to running perfect.
If your truck just dies on you and leaves you stranded, turns over but won't start...check the relays!!! I would've been ****** if I would have ordered a new VP44.

Anybody got a schematic of how this relay is wired in the system? Does it switch something in the VP44? My lift pump never quit working normal. Anything else inline in this fuel system that should always be checked if you have a truck that dies with no "death codes"?
