Truck died and I have to drive 900 miles tomorrow!!!

Truck just died while driving down the road at 65 mph. All gauges just went to zero and the truck was shut off. Weird. Pulled over and put it in park and it started right back up. Then while driving again it took itself out of overdrive and down into third gear. Really weird things going on. I have to get up very early and drive 900 miles tomorrow and need some help. Thanks in advance!

Just a shot in the dark, but check the battery connections, maybe a loose cable is getting things all screwy...could be something with the auto start, I had one in a customers car cause all sorts of running problems.

The cool down timer acts weird sometimes. I will turn the truck off and get out and then the doors will lock themselves and the timer will engage itself without me pushing the button. The timer is not supposed to work unless the e-brake is on but it will come on when the button is pushed even though the brake is not engaged. I hate electrical problems and I am no good at troubleshooting them but I have to get this fixed. Thanks again.

Check all your battery connections , sounds like your losing all power...

And unhook that cool down timer for now...

battery connections are good and the timer is now disconnected. Now what? Is there something wrong with my timer or is there something else I should be looking for?

Well I made it. Now I have to find out what is really wrong. Any ideas other than the timer is bad?

Did the problem recur on the trip or not. I would have to assume if you disconnected the timer and the problem did not come back that this was the issue.

Lets assume that is the problem. Now what do I do with my $95 plastic box? Does anyone know who makes them or knows how to get some warranty repairs. This is a DTR store unit. Who is in charge of that?

Call Lary

Not sure how they handle it since Howard stopped making them though.

If the problem is gone and the truck runs fine now smash that box to pieces and forget all about it. Get another one and live happily ever after. Be glad it was not a $1000 problem. LOL
