Trans or clutch?

So I left taco bell today, and when I hit 3rd gear it ran fine and then went boom. I can put it into all gears. While in neutral with the clutch released, it makes real loud clunking noises. I can put into gear and it will move, but seems like it tries to bind up. At the most 15000 miles on clutch and tranny. Bought both brand new. Clutch is south bend ofe. Tranny is new old stock with big input and updated main installed in it. Thoughts?

I had a similar problem & It sounds like you need a new throwout bearing.

1-2-3, I think you are referring to the 5th gear nut on the 5speed nv4500. The sound the original post was talking about is associated with the throwout bearing. Sounds like something bouncing around inside tranny case.

This is what I would put my money on.

Input shaft or on one of the gears on the countershaft.
