Got a 2500 Deisiel, 99 year, anyway the auto will not shift out of first gear unless i let off the gas then gun it, its being very persistant, im wondering if there is anything i can check before i take it in and dump 2 grand on it.

Couple of things that you can check are the TV cable adjustment and the fluid level in the tranny. I would bet on the TV cable.

we run the duramax under our medic units down here---had one do the very same thing---the fuel filter was stopped up--put in a new one and it was fixed---don't ask me how it done it but it did???????? ???

Sounds like tv cable or it could be gov valve is sticking. <br><br>P.S. Just passed auto tranny phase at Nashville auto diesel college.
