Tranny Temp problem and leaving tommarrow

I am pulling a pretty heavy camper tomarrow up some pretty nice size summits. I just installed the gauge a couple days ago (I already have the boost and pyro installed) and I can get the gauge all the way to 250 degrees when I am empty and not even trying or if I put it in drive and run up to about 2000 rpm with in about 30 sec it will be all the way to 250. Is that normal, It is kinda worring me that the tranny is not ready for the big trip. What if I have to much tranny fluid?? It is slighly over full. If you have to much in would that heat it up??

any info would be great.

thanks
nathan

It is in the hot line, it is a diesel manor hose with the T for the sensor.

How high is it in "normal" around town driving?

Power-braking will cause more heat than normal .

If I'm not mistaken your factory idiot light goes off at 250°
Makes me wonder if your new gauge is reading correctly.

When I go to tow mode with the camper i didnt ever get past 200 until i had to go really slow up a dirt road and it went to about 220. But i was only going about 15 mph up a 7% grade for 5 miles. But i just got the gauge installed so i havent had time to see what it really runs around town. The first time i took it out I ran it up to 250 and was a little nervious.

So when I put it in tow mode is that "locked up" or what is that??? I hear about just dont know what it is really

thanks

didn't note a year of your truck, but the newer 48RE trannys will achieve lockup in MANUAL SECOND. This comes in handy when towing slow to keep the trans temps down.

trans temp light comes on at 275-280 and will usually go out when the temp drops to 230 or less. This dates back to at least 94 (47RH) and up to 07 with the 48RE.
