Talking Going to a triple disc, and leaving the transgo

Well guys. I was planning on just a VB to go along with my Single Disc Goerend Converter. Me and my buddy called Dave Goerend today. My buddy was going to get a VB($450), and a Single Disc($650), and I was just going to get a VB. Well; we called Dave, and talked to him a few minutes, and got the prices, and ordered 2 VB's, and a single disc. He said the VB SHOULD stop my slippage problems in 3rd, and 4th while pulling a trailer, but it wont really hold much more than I have now power wise. So i figured I would give it a try, and he was going to throw in 2 Billett clutch apply levers for free($60 a piece)since both of us were ordering at the same time. Well, we got it ordered, and got off the phone. I was sitting talking to my buddy, and I got to thinking. Hmm, Dave said the triple would hold anything we could throw at it, but was concerned our singles might slip at low rpm's or with too much power (over 350hp)even with a full VB. The triple is $1200 with a lifetime warranty. The VB, and single disc was going to cost $1100, so we would both have $1100 in our single disc/VB setup a piece. I talked to my buddy for a minute, and we both decided it would be much smarter to go ahead and do triple discs. So we called Dave again. He said he would give me a full refund of the $650 I paid for my single disc even though it is used(i am sending it back), and put it towards the triple(AWESOME customer service!). He said the Transgo/Triple Disc Combo would hold 500hp easy, and it has the lifetime warranty. So I am going to be swapping the converter again in my truck, and my buddy is gonna buy a transgo and put it in his along with a triple disc. We spent $100 more a piece, but we will both have combos that will hold anything we will ever throw at them compared to maybe holding 350hp with a single, and VB. It only made sence to us to do it this way. I cant wait to get that sucker in there Im sure I would be happier with my shifts by going to a full VB, but My shifts are decent now, and best of all I will be able to hold a lot of power with no slippage issues(even hauling a load). So I am very happy . I think the end of next week is when we will be recieving them. BTW; he is also STILL sending the BILLETT clutch apply levers(since they sometimes break with more than stock VB pressure)for free which are $60 a piece along with the converters for us to put in(Did I mention the great customer service? ). I dont know of many other companies you can trade a used converter for a better new one,a nd get the full price paid to go into the new converter even though you are sending the 1st one back used. 20 thumbs up to Dave and the guys at Goerend Bros! BTW; does anyone have something like a GB transmissions sticker on there truck? I would like to run one in my back glass like the sticker on his site to advertise for him some . I may have one made locally(probably a 4"x4" sticker) to put on my truck. Sorry for the long post, but I am excited.

Eric

Finally we'll get to stop hearing about your slipping TC. That's freaking awesome customer service. I've always thought that dave was a heckuva guy to deal with. Kudos to dave and I hope that this solves all of your problems.

I hear ya I was getting tired of it myself. I think it will take care of my problems. I guess if it doesent, then I will know its not torque converter related Yeah; I really have to commend dave for being such a great person to deal with, and as I have said before; DTT is right up there on my list too, just couldnt beat Daves prices, and warranty. So when are you getting your tranny in Blue?

Plans are for this summer. I'm gonna see if I can swing the folks paying for the trans while I pay for the billet shafts that way I can get it over with all at once and have a tranny that I can really have fun with. I hope everything works out great for you.

Hey guys. I think my clutches are in ok shape, but how hard is it for someone with basic hand tools, and some time to put in a kit like this, and would it be worth it(my tranny has about 100k miles)? It would be nice to have all new clutches, and seals, but i dont know how hard it would be. I am on spring break week after next all week, so I would have plenty of time to do it. Just looking for opinions. Thanks a lot!

Congrats. Dave is the man. I think the kit would probably be worth it.
