Tranny Bad @ 5k?!?
I posted a Thread yesterday on remote start issues...I mentioned the fact that I did not have the last gear in my '06 CTD with only 5100k miles...Now I only have 2n n 3rd and it's Auto...I don't know if it could possibly be related to the installation of the remote start or not...?!? Computer related?!?!?!?!? Help!!!???

Take it back to where you got the remote starter. Have them remove everything carefully, see how the truck does. If OK, then get your money back. If still problems, then they need to pay to have them resolved. If your still dead set on a remote start, when everything is back to normal, go someplace else and ask if they have done your vehicle before. KD
hmm I cant even think of why it would be connected to anything regarding the transmission and should have no relation at all to the problem. That is unless they wired it wrong somehow. Certainly take it back and have it at least looked over again and removed.

I dropped my truck off today and spoke to the owner of the business...He advised me that he would take every necessary step to fix the problem (what business owner wouldn't say that)...so I'm hoping whatever his solution is works out for the best...He said I should recieve a call tomorrow afternoon from his technician regarding the situation...Hopefully everything will be resolved...fingers are crossed!!!
It is highly likely that the PCM was corrupted during the install of the remote start system. All it takes is not fully draining the airbag capacitors after the negative ground cables are disconnected, before any wiring is done.
I'd check the fluid level first. Warm/hot tranny, level ground, neutral, truck running (don't forget the parking brake).
What about codes? Key on/off/on/off/on and leave it on. Read and post any codes you see in the odometer window.
Let the dealer have it back under warranty.

Why on earth would you take off any battery cables when installing a remote starter?? That causes nothing but grief. Being extra careful when soldering and making sure to identify the correct wires beforehand is key. I have NEVER removed cables from any vehicle. As for the '06, it is a tricky vehicle but once you've done one, they're easy. Takes longer to benchwire the unit with relays and resistors than it does to actually install. I figure the tranny problems are related to the install, probably have the ignition wire crossed up somewhere.
