torque converter will not unlock

First I would like to thank everyone as I'm a new dodge owner and I have learned a ton of info in this forum.

I recently picked up a 96 3500 (auto) with 22,000 orginal miles. As far as I know every thing is bone stock. I drove the truck for about 500 miles, plowed several storms and as far as I can tell the tranny was fine. The tranny is not ideal but seemed to act as designed with the TCC working when it should and holding well. Then I pulled into a parking lot and the truck stalled. It was because the tc did not unlock. I was able to limp it home by using neutral the few times I needed to stop (had nice firm shifts though ). Also, nothing seems to work to unlock it, like OD on/off, switching gears, letting the it cool down, ect...

Anyway, from what I have read its probably not the TPS, I'm leaning towards the tranny speed sensor or the TCC solenoid. Does anyone have any ideas? If it is solenoid how bad is the job? Is it just a matter of pulling the pan?

Please help!!!! I need to get back on the road...

Thanks in advance....

so it runs in neutral but not good in drive. fuel filter out of ? then.
the trans sensors should be on the outside. not sure but i'd go take a look under the truck and see where the wires are lead too. then go see if a parts store has the sensors and compare.

also check for any bare wires, may be shorting out. try messing with the button on the shifter in different gears?

sorry i'm not much help, not a trans expert.

it runs good in all the gears, just shifts hard and will stall if it is put in gear, unless you give it a little gas to get it moving...

also, I just installed a new speed sensor and that didn't help, but i'm not surprised...

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
The resistance of solenoids should be approx 30 ohms each.
