Timing!!!!!!!!!

I just started installation of my rebuilt injector pump and I'm not sure if it is in time or not. I'll explain: When I began to rotate the engine clockwise to line up the keyways I noticed that the gear was just kinda bouncing around and it wasn't meshed in with the other gear! I didn't really know what to do so I rotated the engine until my timing pin popped into place and then took my fingers and lifted the drive gear up and rotated it until the keyways lined up. Is this accurate? I know my pump shaft is in the right spot because it is locked at TDC by the guys who rebuilt it and I know the engine is at TDC because my timing pin is popped in. PLEASE HELP!

Sure sounds like you will be mighty darn close to where it should be. I personally would go ahead and finish the job and see what happens.

Yeah, that'll work fine. Everything is lined up the way it ought to be, doesn't really matter how it got that way.
