Tie rod

I was trying to replace the tie rod end that is attached to the pitman arm but couldn't get it off of the pitman arm. I have read that a pickle fork or a puller will help. I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions?

Yes, I believe that both terms are used for the same tool.
