Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick
What year is your truck? When mine was making that noise it almost drove me crazy, until I figured out that it was the mechanical lift pump, on the driver side back of the engine under the fuel filter.

If it gets faster with RPM and does not go away then it is the lift pump, if it goes away while driving then it is the overflow, I have had this headache. Drive next to a wall or a curb on the driver side and if you can hear the ticking constantly then it is the lift pump. The return spring in the pump goes out and doesnt allow the pump rod to seat on the cam constantly so it "ticks" as the cam slaps the pump rod. If you have any other questions PM me.

While the truck is idling, if it is ticking, find somthing that you can push down on the fuel primer really hard with and hold pressure on it, most of the time it will stop ticking, "hint, its the lift pump".
