Tick Tick Tick..............booom (I hope not)

I just noticed a ticking sound under my hood when I really get on the throttle, but when rpms go up the ticking goes away, could it be a valve lifter or somthing along those lines....anybody??? I also have the oil all over my dipstick problem, other than that the truck is great.

Leaking/Cracked Exhaust Manifold?

Most the time a leaking or cracked exhaust manifold will sound like a tick, untill you reach higher boost 20+PSI, then it will either dissapear, or turn into a Hiss.

I would check your exhaust manifold first.

I just noticed the ticking on my sons truck at low rpm's today. Sounds like an exhaust gasket leak. Got to check it out tomorrow while it is cold.

Mine had the tick at idle, it turned out that one of the injectors just backed out a bit, so my compression was blowing out, it made quite a noise! If it isn't exhaust, just start her up, and pass a piece of paper over the injectors so you can see if there is a leak around the injector somewhere. Mine was big enough that the hood insulation would blow around!

Good Luck
