Thru 1689

So I just filled up, Started her up. Rough idle, black smoke, checked gauges: Fuel-20psi, Temp Fine, Oil Fine, shut her down. Checked the codes thru 1689 and 0236. Sat for a couple minutes and started her back up, seems to run fine but the check engine is still on, took her home and parked her. Was it as simple as some bad fuel, I just don't want to run her if there's a chance I could fry my VP. I know 1689 is no commmunication with the vp and 0236 is bad boost sensor, from searching thru posts, but no other posts sounded exactly like mine.

edit: wanted to double check this afternoon, re-ran code check, noticed after 1st set instead of goingt P-Done...P-Ecu... It goes P done...P done...then P-Ecu

Ideas?

Thanks,
John

jc, I cant help you , but there are those who can. It is realy helpfull if you'd fill out your signature with your truck info, so they will know what year and what mods if any you have... that can make a difference.

Head over to Auto Zone and get the codes read. They usuall can get a little deeper. The 1689 is not good even once. But get more info.
Maybe drain the filter at the water drain. try to catch it and see if there is junk inthe fuel. Seems to be a problem all over.

I just spent 2100 and a lot of stress to find out how important it is to have the cables completley free of any corrosion. The first thing I would do is to remove the cables and every wire that goes on with the cables and clean them like new, clean the battery posts and reassemble. Nape
