new member here, I'm having a fuel problem with my 2000 24 valve 2500 4x4 ( no mods). It seems like the lift pump is shutting off as soon as it starts. I've bleed the system several times, but no help. It is only doing this in the morning, in the afternoon when I bleed the system it works fine until the next morning.I did get a code of p1689 (no communication between ECM and injection pump module). I don't kwow where either of these components are located. Replaced lift pump no change.Thanks for any help I may receive.

 

The diag for that code calls for testing continuity on various circuits. If all that checks out it's calling for replacing the ecm.

When I got the 1689 code, I also had a p1688, all of this added up to a blown injector pump.

Hope that's not the case w/you but it was with me.

Check the fuel pump relay under the hood. This will cause that code. I know, i simulated that fault with the relay and that code comes up.
