Angry Stinking Dodge!!!!

My dad bought a '04.5 HO '600'. Have about 1k miles on it now, but he is only getting about 13mpg, and it STINKS!! Like a hot catalytic converter or something... He's made an appointment for
the dealer in the a.m, but we'd like to give him something to chase. It's a quadcab, 4x4 dually automatic if that helps!!!

Please reply here, or email me at egnever01_323@yahoo.com

thanks

Not sure. I'll talk to my dad. The mileage isn't 'so much' of a concern, as the smell is. I printed that PDF from the other thread
and we'll give it to the dealer. Thanks

When I bought my 99 I noticed a wierd smell. What I found mine to be was the crank case vent hose on the front of the engine while idling at a light or just parked you would smell this smell like something burning , anyway the vent hose i felt was to short so I got a piece of 3/4 inch heater hose and a pvc couple and a couple of clamps and lengthened the hose down past the motor just above the front axle. NO MORE SMELL!!! Just a thought.

Mine had a bit of a burned paint smell for the first couple of thousand miles, which went away. I figured it was the paint on the head, or residue on the exhaust pipes burning off. It also has a distinct gear oil smell from time to time, apparenlty from the front dif. vent, but not enough to bother me.

Unless it is so bad you can't stand it, I would take it on a road trip and put a couple more tanks through it and perhaps both problems will go away on their own.
