Steering's Gone, Help!!!!
Steering's Gone, Help!!!!
I have a 1999 dodge ram 4x4 cummins. I have read about all the steering problems they have. Well it finally bit me in the butt. It was getting real loose over the last 6 months, and starting to leak. Well yesterday it took a crap. All the fluid just dumped, and it started making a lot of noise until all the fluid was gone. Lost brakes and power steering.. It seems to be coming from 2 spots. One is up front, I think it is called the gear box. And I cant tell where else the fluid is coming from> i need help with this repair. What parts would need replacing, and technical names for them. I am without a vehicle until I get this fixed. Anyone in the Houston, TX area that could help let me know. A shop or whatever.. I called a few places, wanting 75 an hour and havnt done it before. I see a nightmare cost doing it that way. I would like to fix it myself. I was looking over autoparts websites, and cant figure out exactly what would be right.. Anyone have this problem yet?? Or know what to do?Please help!!!!!

DODGE DIESEL VACUUM PUMP REPAIRING /TRANSMISSIONS REPAIR
Sounds like your pitman shaft bearing and seal are gone(been there done that). The simple and quickest thing to do is get a reman gear box(about $200.00) and a pitman arm puller.
The rest is just hand tools.
