I've alway's read that the p0216 is injection pump timing failure. Maybe caused by the LP failing first, but never the code actauly being thrown by the LP failing.
I think you'll find out soon you will be recieving both pumps.

they will put a in-tank pump on it and it will only pump 7 or 8 psi at idle on a good day WOT will be little to none

Not to hijack this thread but last night on the way home my truck just seems like its working to get fuel above 1700rpms any way got home check the codes nothing no codes presant so thats good. iam goin to change the fuel filter becuase its been about 20k since i changed it last and i know the fuel station i always fuel up just switched back to #2 and all this started right after i filled up so i am beating i got a shot of bad fuel iam goin to change the filter in about 10 min. I dont have a pressure gauge but once i get her spooled up and goin she runs strong and hard and dont miss a beat and there is no smoke at all. am i going down the right track? my trucks got about 80k on the clock and in a month or sooner iam goin to get a new lift pump comin just for giggles.

It sounds like you are starting on the right track. You still need to get a fp gauge though. Many have never noticed anything wrong until the ip gives out on them. They find out that their lp is also bad so you need to have this checked out.

well in theroy if my lift pump was bad it would not start right up after breaking the seal on the filter house? changed the fuel filter it fired right up and every thing is back to what it should be 100% strong. I am looking in to the fuel pressue gauge as i have a single gauge pod on the pillar now so i could easly go to the 2 gauge full a pillar. its just now its running great now and funds are always a issue so when the time is right i will take the right steps.

I have a 1997 Ram 2500 4x4 that is doing something similar. I works great at the lower rpm's but if it is put under a load above 2100 rpm's the truck seems to lose its power and doesnt matter how much pedal you give it seems to be a stall of some sort.

Wahoo,

Welcome to the site. Good to see new people on here.

I am exactly sure about your problem but it sounds like the engine defueling. Does this happen even when you are getting on it? If it is they it wouldn't be the defueling. I don't know much about the 12v pumps but you might be able to find something in the 12v forum.
