Speed Sensor ?

While driving on the interstate at 65 mph suddenly the ABS light and brake light came on and speedometer went to zero. Odometer isn't logging miles and cruise control doesn't work.
Do you think it is the speed sensor on the rear end?
Has anyone replaced this sensor?
How do you do it?

Need help soon on the road traveling and need quick fix by this weekend.

Good possibility the speed sensor is toast. New one is 35 bucks +/-. Replacement is a snap, remove retaining bolt on top of rear diff, pry old sensor out (mine came out in pieces), lube up seal on new sensor, insert into hole, press in and replace bolt and reconnect wire. Whole job should take around 20 minutes including crawling underneat truck a couple of times while finding right wrench/socket to remove bolt.

Good luck!!!!

What he said................probably the easiest thing to do on the truck.

Also, it's a dealer item.

Ooops, guess I should have read your sig. I honestly do not know if there is one on a five speed. It might just be for shifting on the auto, not sure.

Thanks to all! You're right, it was a snap to replace and only 38 bucks dealer. The speed sensor was the problem and the new one fixed it right up. Also on a 5 speed there is only one sensor back on top of the diff.
