So i got the old P0216..

So yesterday I was washing my truck, degreased and cleaned off the engine (not that this caused it but this is when the issue raised its head) so after I was done washing it I went to get a coffee and I noticed when it started and was in Park I gave it some throttle and it stumbled around 1400rpm ... so I backed off the pedal and tried again.. same thing... I let it warm up some more.. problem gone... same thing this morning, only now it was light out and I could see white smoke.. however the smoke and stumble went away after it warmed up all the way.. now im getting dead pedal (Which is getting worse and more frequent) when i cruise around 35mph.

Did not give me a CEL at all.

Got home, gave it the key the on, off on, off, on and it gave me

0500
1693
0216

So i can assume the VP is limping into its grave at 83,000 Miles... one can also assume the LP is shot to hell to...

Long story short.. my truck has an extended warranrty which I am covered with. which is a good thing as I have just lost my job recently and can not afford much more than the $100 Deductable on my warranty.

My Issues are this,

1. I run TCW-3 2 Cycle oil as additive... is it going to be an issue when the dealer pops my VP44 off and sees blue fuel... like is this going to be something they are going to try and Void me on.

2. I am currently running a K&N BHAF on the stock air box hose... the K&N is clamped onto a 3" to 4" PVC adaptor which goes to the stock airbox hose... if this was a turbo related issue, I understand they are going to tell me its my fault, etc, etc... but again.. is this something they will look at and try to opt out of repair on the fuel system?

I could maybe get a stock airbox from the junk yard or have my inlaws fedex me the old one from my wifes place in South Carolina if its going to be an issue. though I would like to be able to not have to do this as I want to drop it off ASAP to get it taken care of.

Yes and no flack about not having a Fuel Pressure guage... "I was going to do that" caught up with me.. but the money had to go elsewhere at the time..

Thanks for any input on the situation.

James

I'd make it as stock as possible! Don't give them any reason to deny warranty.

For what it's worth, I go to one of those car washes that spray the underside, and get the dreaded 0216 every time. I come home, clear it and go on my merry way. Some times I have to clear it again the next day. Never a CEL.

Go figure, been doing it for 50k miles.

Fair enough but how do i explain the stumble and white smoke?

I thought at first i got something under the hood wet and that was causing the stumble... but now the dead pedal and white smoke.. I was gonna try an APPS reset until i started smoking...

What he said........as close to stock as possible. At least you have the warrenty.

Run as much fuel out as you can and then fill it up to dilute the blue fuel.

I hate to needlessly spend money, so I would do the APPS reset and check all connections at the VP$$ and the ECM and PCM.

Good luck,

Unless the engine was hot and you got cold water or cold cleaner on a hot injection pump, I would look at the electrical connectors as the source of your problem. If the engine was hot and you got cold water or cold cleaner on a hot VP44 then you have a case of seized delivery valve and the pump is shot.

As far as two cycle oil in the fuel, do not worry about that with a dealer. The color will not be an issue.
