Death Codes? P0215 & P0216

Truck is a 2002 HO 6 speed out of wnty. NO POWER FROM THE GIT GO! Then sporadically power comes in hard and then it just falls on its face again. Pulled the codes..... P0216 & P0215. I have read that these are VP death codes. On the flip side I have also seen them to be CMP codes. I would fig that if the cam pos sen was bad, the truck would not start. It just seems that every body likes to jump on the VP right away.....but who could blame them! Any suggestions would be helpful.

This is the deffenition for the P0216 code right out of the book.

P0216 - Injection pump timing failure.

Sorry, your vp is a gonner. I can look up the other code in a bit, but I know from experiance on the p0216.

I agree, looks like the VP. I am going to pick up my newly rebuilt VP tomorrow. I did not check my codes, but it was acting the same way as you described.

Well I did some checking with a really nice scanner with Data Stream. I checked the APPS for proper single while driving. It did its hiccup and the voltage stayed the same no matter what (I think 3.57V @ WOT). SO we did an R&R on the Injection Pump (028) and installed a FASS on the dude’s truck to keep that pesky lift pump from ever causing probs again. It was a stock LP....with 150,000 it needed to be replaced anyway....Truck ran great after new pump......Thanks for all the info!
