new to the diesel scene. I drove the truck this past weekend without a hitch. Yesterday, however, it cranks but I have no fire. Any advise?

Does the keyswitch trick work on late model trucks too?

 

Yes it does

 

yes it does.

do you hear the lift pump running? when it is cranking, any sputtering(attempting to run) at all?
are you in a VERY cold area, and maybe the grid heaters are not working?

 

Colorado, Is Butt cold this time of year!!.............. could be the fuel is gelled??

that is a good possibility. i wonder if this nice gentleman is using any form of additive. Being that he is new to the diesel scene, i hope he can located the LP, since it is an 04, i am gonna assume it is still on the filter housing and hasnt been relocated to the tank. we will have to see if he answers back with the grid heaters, and attempts to fire. thanks rick

Sorry fellas, I have been working on it. Where can I find the codes? It's very cold right now. When I crank it, it trys to fire. Thanks for all the humoruos help.

 

Okay, after much reading. The codes are P0483

 

Turn the key to the on position and then off 3 times (Do not crank) the 3rd time the codes will be displayed in the odometer.

Check your fuel filter to make sure that you have liquid fuel instead of gelled. Look for yellow switch on bottom of fuel filter canister(drivers side) drain some fuel to test.
