Seat Belt Won't Retract
I'm not sure if this belongs in here, but if it doesn't, mods, feel free to move it.
After driving my 99 CTD yesterday, I get in it this morning and the seat belt (driver side) wont retract. No amount of moving the seat or pulling gently on the belt will get it to come free. I removed the IOD fuse to supposedly reset the SCTM, but to no avail.
Anyone have any other suggestions befire it goes to the dealer?

OH BOY! I think I know this one!
This happened to me also. First off is the other side do it also? If so your truck thinks its been in a roll over accident. I took the seat out once (my fat butt broke it) to have it fixed and when I turned it over to fix the seat and then plugged it back in the pendelum in the seat told the computer the truck had rolled over.
Anyhoo, try disconnecting the batteries (both) for an hour to reset the puter. If that don't work the dealer will need to replace the retractor. Sorry man!
Let me know if it works.

phishsandwich,
I think Geico266 is real close on this one. There is a small "black box" under the center of the front seat (quad cab) Nasty little bugger to get to. This is for the 98.5, so I hope the same for you.
Theres a marble (yup really) in there that controls the retractor. It's what make them grab when you hit the brakes etc. The marble rolls ahead and activates a micro switch.
Might be your problem. She might be stuck and unable to roll, or the box is toast.
Check connectors to the box etc.
Good luck.

My passenger belt does that. I tried unplugging the wire to the underseat box and could hear the click in the solinoid. If I pull really really really slowly it comes out.
$110 for a new one... I put a clip on it to hold it out. It still locks up ok.

Well, we got it taken care of. All I had to do was unplug the connector from the black box under the front seat(in the middle). I let it sit unplugged for a few minutes and plugged it back in and the seat belt was free!!.
Thanks a million guys. I would have been so mad to get a darn seat belt ticket
