Dang it! All he needs to do is get a 90* elbow and hook the two heater core hoses together until he can get it fixed... that really sucks. Wish I was there to help, buddy!

I thought of that but...I'm headed into -25 and colder with high winds plus I have anti freeze pouring out the passenger door sill. Probably a good place for it to fail.
I probably wouldn't be able to see much or feel much in that cold.

Turns out the gal that's cut my hair at the petro offered up her husband who's laid off. We are tackling it tomorrow when it's warmer...45f.

Myself and another guy got the HVAC box out today...doing it outdoors. Did the heater core swap and checked over all the blend doors I replaced...all looks good. Reinstall everything tomorrow. Cooler temps but wind will change, shouldn't be too bad.
I think we're good...thanks!

This last heater core was a recent replacement...looks like it split or a weld was missed. Seems like water was only flowing in half of it when we checked it out.

Probably only.a 5-6 hr day tomorrow with coffee breaks etc.

That still sucks. I remember when I changed the heater core out on my Z-71, it was a few bolts and some hose clamps. They sure make this stuff difficult now days!

Geemoney crickets - - you didn't say you were putting in a new interior and overhauling the engine. Remind me I don't want to change the heater core in my truck. NOPE. ...................................It was bad enough changing out the clutch hydraulics.

One gripe I have always had with Chrysler is that when they build a vehicle, some dude stands in the middle of the assembly line area, holding out a heater core and says 'build me a vehicle around this'. On my Chev truck the heater core took me about 30 minutes. Chrysler / Dodge has always buried them deep in the dash. We can't blame Cummins for this one, it is a Dodge thing.
