The Crank sensor is located on the top of the balancer bolted to the gear housing. It has a 3 wire plug that is just down behind the fan hub. Check the plug for obvious problems, else inspect the sensor for signs of wear or abrasion from touching the crank. If you can, the tach sensor output is under the dash for the OEM tach hookup. I think the Grey wire is the signal, but if you have the tools you could check for signal there.

I can't remember if there is a code for that or not. The key on-off-on-off-on triggers the Check Engine lite to kick out the code in lite flashes. It will flash a number of times, take a short pause then another number of flashes. Like 5-5 or 4-2 etc. The codes will coencide with a potential problem which might show the CPS.

I will look at the Dodgeram.org site to see if I can find it again.

Yep. Stand in front of the truck (with the hood open, of course!!) and look down between the radiator and the engine. The pulley that is on the bottom of the engine is the balancer. On the top of that you will see something bolted to the timing cover and pointing at the balancer. That is the CPS (crankshaft position sensor).
