RPM's

Just a little ignorant here. Really tired of towing at 2500 rpm, 64 mph,8 mpg more or less. How long will this thing run at these sustained high rpm's?
Does anybody know a good CTD engine-transmission shop anywhere's close to me?
Thanks for the help in the past and in the future.

Re:RPM's

How long will it run at that that RPM, oh about 10,000 hours... Seriously they are designed to be run in industrial applications for that speed and full load.

If you are looking to pull down your RPM you could look at getting an overdrive kit. Basically another gearbox that goes between your transmission and final drive. Or if you are gung-ho you could change out the gear set for a 3.55 setup. With the 3.55 setup at your reported speed you would be around 2000 Rpm, a little better for cruising.

There have got to be a few guys here with and overdrive that could help out..

J-eh

Re:RPM's

I agree with Lil dog, sounds like you have the lower gears in your auto, or your OD is out.

Re:RPM's

I've got 3.54 with an auto and at 65mph, I'm turning around 1700-1800 rpm. Give or take 100rpm. 80mph I'm cruising between 2000-2100 give or take. Get 23 to the gallon running 70mph. ;D Unloaded that is. With the tailgate down, windows up, AC off (it was winter time). Never taking it over 2000 and never going past half-throttle.

Re:RPM's

Thanks,
Am running the 3.55 with auto-od but have to run in direct a lot. I bought it used and have put 22,000 on it. I need to make it a little more economical to use. I like the idea of the od/ud add on box. Think I better get the tranny bullet resistant first.
