replacement lift pump questions on an 03

my truck has been at my local dodge dealer since last wed. ( only 75k miles so its still under warranty) and they finally determined it needs a new lift pump, which they say is not covered by the warranty and will cost $1200. dollars. my truck still has the original lift pump under the hood but they want to do the retro fit and move it to the tank for the $1200. what are my options other than the retro fit? i really dont want to spend $1200 for a pia in tank pump. ive been looking at the fass and air dog 100 set ups. are there any other options that are less expensive? also since its not covered under warrany i will be doing the install my self to save on labor cost. i need to fix this thing asap.

Your lift pump is covered under warranty !!! Regardless of retofit or not. No deductable, no charge. Tell the serice manager that he can call chrysler to verify. Or just take it to another dealer. You can call dodge yourself. If all else fails you can just spend a 139.00 and order a stock replacement lift pump from rock auto or genos. Or upgrade to a better set up. Easy to replace ( about a 1/2 hr). But you shouldnt have to, its clearly stated in your manual and easy for him to verify with dodge. cummins warranty 5yrs 100k.
