Exclamation Rear center slider window latch broke

On a trip with stuff packed in my Dodge Ram 3500, 2003 Quad cab, and I want to maintain security for stuff in back seat and the permanently attached latch on the center slider window broke. Can it be replaced without buying new slider window as the dealer said....any suggestions on fixing or replacement part and where to get it? Simple part but aggravating problem.

thanks,

steve

Last time mine broke I was able to get just the replacement latch from the dodge dealer, that was a couple years ago tho so it may have been discontinued.

Try Home Depot, Lowes, or good hardwar store and glass place....Look for a adjustable latch, like used on a glass display case sliding door, it would have 2 pieces of metal bent to go around the edgle or the glass and one piece is fed into the other with a built in lock. May not fit perect with the gasket/trim, but should be able to get you by.....Just a thought!

I have seen replacement latches at auto parts stores in the section with door and window handles, stuff like that. The brand around here is called "Help", red bubble package hanging on the shelf. Usually both halves of the latch, just screws onto the frame with 3 or 4 screws on each side.

slider latches are not very secure, if any body wants to gain entry the rear slider is the easiest with no damage..... mine will lift out of the track without sliding..... lift and push and the window falls in
