So you replacing the radiator too? You can probably get the nut off of the idler pulley quite easily now, since that pesky fan is out of the way. Usually this requires a special tool. It's pretty much take the old fan clutch nut off and put the new one on, swapping the actual fan blade ot the new clutch, if it is still usable, otherwise you bought a new fan blade too.

Have you had anyone including yourself work in that area recently? My friendly local dealer replaced my CP-3 on my 04.5 and didn't torque the bolts properly and did not use lock tite on them, resulting in fan coming off, destroying shroud, fan, fan clutch and some wiring, about $1600 worth of repairs. Dealer paid for all but took some persuasion from district manager. So if you had work done you might want to persue that avenue to save some bucks. Hopefully you didn't have a lot of damage.

Sounds to me like someone at the dealership didn't follow all steps. I would return the truck to the place that did the radiator and have them fix it "Under Warranty" as it sounds like they made a mistake.

As far as any radiator damage probably not as the torque of the motor stopping reverses the fan rapidly and just snaps it off and throws it directly to the side and damage is done to the shroud and misc parts but not normally the radiator.

Good Luck....

I've seen blades shear off when someone puts cardboard in front of the radiator for the winter and doesn't cover it 100% or with a hole in the middle.
What happens is every time a blade passes though the airstream it flexes till it breaks.
