Power Steering Rebuild
Power Steering Rebuild
I am trying to find a place that sells a power steering rebuild kit for a 94 dodge 2500 diesel 4x4. Does anyone have any information that might help? Does such a thing exsist? My power steering is leeking pretty bad but I don't want to spend a ton of money to buy a new one if I don't have to.
Re:Power Steering Rebuild
You don't say what is leaking, but here is what just happened to me.
Mine was leaking fluid from the pitman arm shaft. I thought I could just
replace the seal there. It leaked worse than ever when I finished with
that, and I was pretty careful to not mess up anything. That was about
$40. After that, I went to a wrecking yard and got a used one out of a 96.
That was $250, because it is from a diesel/heavy duty/8800# gvw rig.
If it's just hoses, that should be pretty cheap, and the power steering unit
itself probably isn't much either, though it looks like it might be a pain
to replace what with the vacuum pump bolted to it.

Good luck.

Might try these guys:
http://www.agrperformance.com/agr/ca...xFMR?model=102

Don't know if they sell parts, but do have pumps & steering boxes.

Used to be able to get rebuild (seal) kits for Saginaw pumps at most parts stores, if that is the problem.

If the pitman shaft is leaking, you may have a worn shaft bearing. There are a couple seals beneath the roller bearing.

Regards,
-Scott
Re:Power Steering Rebuild
I can't remember if they were rebuilds or new, but called the local auto parts stores and found that power steering pumps were reasonably cheap (under $100) with a warranty.
