Check the oil first to make sure it's full. Then get a manual oil pressure gauge and check the pressure. The sending unit maybe going bad. A oil filter could also cause this. If all else failles when oil pressure is down at idle still it sounds like the main barrings are bad.

Replace your oil pressure sender and all will be well again.

Ok Guys. i have the answer. I had the same problem for a year. Went through 3 new senders at 70 some bucks a whack. Never fixed it. I finally found out that the oem sender has a cut out in it that sends an alarm if the pressure drops below 20 pounds. mine must have driven me crazy for a year because I had a mechanical gauge in it that showed I had 25 pounds at idle. I finally found someone that told me cummins had a 0 PSI guage for it. I went to the dodge house and asked and lo and behold, they had it! Cheaper than at the cummins house. Fixed the problem! Dodge part number 56031005, lists for 44.88. This will cure the problem.
