OH NO..

hey <br>i have a slow grinding noise from under my truck when im driveing about 5 mph <br>it happens ever once in while, not all the time <br>i dont know what it is?<br>can you guys please help :'( <br>thanks <br>bruce

Sounds like a small stone trapped between the rotor and the brake dust/mud shield, if you are lucky. Can make an awful sound that makes you think $$$, but just pry it with screwdriver and stone falls out. Worth a look.

The last time I heard a noise similar to that I had a bad U-joint.

Yep. Sounds like a brake noise of some kind to me.....<br><br>But is hard to describe noises in words isn't it??? ???<br><br>I'd be looking at a brake problem first though. 8)<br><br>Good luck.

Me too, but mine is when im going slow and turning already checked the brakes they are ok, checked the u joint, and opend up the rear end nothing wrong that i can see changed oil and put in additive still no fix. Seems to get worse when pulling something or after i have been driving for awhile. <br>HELP!!!!!!!!!!! :'( :'(

My bet is that the snap ring on your transfer case has gone bad if your truck is a 4x4. There was a thread on this about a month or so ago. Try doing a search and maybe it will yield some info about it. Good Luck!

hey guys<br>i found out that the noise was coming from the rear axel <br>(im thinking its my bearings)<br>so i jack up the rear end and turned my wheels and found out that the sound was coming from housing<br>now my truck is at my buddys <br>hopefully its just my bearings <br>i write back when i find out more <br><br>

well i finally got my truck back ;D<br>one of the bearings went out and took my gears with it <br>found big chunks of metal from the gears <br>the brake pads were broken in half <br>so i went and found a used dana 80 <br>and put it in and had to replace the seals and bearings, brakepads, drained the oil out of the 80 and put in fresh oil in<br>and i was good to go <br>its running nice <br>i need to check the oil when i get home and look for leaks <br>but i have my truck ;D

it wasnt too bad.. <br>for new guts (bearings,gears,etc..) for my old 70 <br>if would have costed $1350 just for the parts <br>i got the dana 80 axel for $850 brakepads $50 bearings and seals for $100 so my axel came out to around $1000 <br>and plus i now have upgraded my rear axel ;D
