No start leaving me stranded

I just bought my 05 3500, 11kmiles, now I am wondering if it was traded in because of this problem of course it only happens, once in awhile, but has left me stranded several times for variuos periods of time.
I get in go to start it, nothing. All dash lights are fine, batteries are up, ( I even put a juimp on it once), but just like someone put a switch in line to cut the power to starter? Then all of a sudden it fires. I noticed a couple of times, the shifter(auto) park doesn't light up, having to wiggle the shifter to see the park indicator light. Is it maybe when in park it isn't making the contact with the relay to to the starter? Computer??
At any rate I am going to get it in the shop has a warranty, in the mean time we won"t be going on the trip we wanted to do. Any Idee ers would be of great help. I did look on recall stuff, found some interior ligh issues and a steering linkage recall, the linkage breaks and you lose control of the vehicle!

Sounds like the neutral safety switch? Next time it does it, turn the ignition to start, then move/wiggle the shifter? This would help you to either isolate the problem, or rule out the neutral safety switch.

When it does that, try starting it in neutral. It could be the switch, or the gear position sensor. (I think that's it... little fuzzy on that.)

Yeah... gotta press the break.

Don't worry about it. Stay sane, we'll make it work.

The problem with the no start wiggle the shifter, turned out to be a relay switch inline from Park possition, so replace of relay and me truck she runs again!

I love this truck!
