no power to lift pump

no power to lift pump
OK I was driving down the road and it was like someone shut off the key! I coasted to the side of the road and tried starting it but it would crank but not start. I checked power to injection pump and lift pump and no power at all! I have replaced to ignition and checked all fuses and everything looks good. I replaced the whole engine harness that goes to injection pump and lift pump and still nothing! Please help I need to get back to work!!!! This is a 2000 freightliner with a isb 5.9 Cummins in it. Thank you all in advance!!!!

Try cycling your key ON-OFF, ON-OFF, ON-OFF three (3) times and see if any codes come up in your dash. If a code does come up, and it is 0216 you have serious problems with the VP-44 injection pump. It may not be the lift pump, as the VP-44 fuel pump may be bad.

OK so I hooked a direct power to the lift pump thru the harness witch gave the lift pump power and injection pump power. Truck started right up and ran fine but now I have to unplug the wire every time I turn off the truck because the lift pump stays running. I have looked thru everything and even replaced the engine wire harness and the ignition switch and still can't find why I am not getting power.

I'm pretty sure power comes from the ECM so check the plugs at the ECM but if bypassing works just wire it from an ignition powered source that turns off with the key. Ah wait you do know that to get the pump to run you have to "bump" the starter this will give 25 seconds of pump running.

There is no power to lift pump or to injector pump so if I bump the starter it still Dont work because there is no power. I would run a wire to ignition and do it that way but I want to find the cause and fix it right because if something else happens in the future I won't know if it could be related to this problem or not.

Ooops just read there is no power to the ECM as well and that's Freightliner. Dodge uses 2 fuses and a relay, one fuse is ign the other is battery. Have you looked to see if there is a "fuel pump" relay, that's a fairly common problem and can be interchanged with one of the other similar relays for troubleshooting. Also on Dodge the ECM grounds can be a problem and often removing, cleaning and reinstalling fixes ECM problems.
