no over drive, tach, speedo and fuel solenoid not working

I was driving the truck last Friday and stopped off for a coffee. I came out and the truck would start and then quit right away. I had it towed home and researched the problem on this site. After I read about the fuel shutoff solenoid, I could keep the truck running by holding the lever up by hand. So I disconnected the sloenoid and could start and stop the engine by manualy mover the fuel pump lever. I can use the truck now but now I don't have any tach, speedo, overdrive and the wait to start light dosn't work anymore. Are these things interconnected somehow? I don't want to spent the $500.00 on a new solenoid only to find out it was something else causing it not to work.
Thanks for all your help
Doug

All the things you mention plus the water in fuel sensor share the same 5 volt output from the PCM.
My bet is that one of the five volt wires is shorting to ground or that you have a bad ground.
