new at this/need help quick!

i have a 97 12v with no mods. has excessive blow-by. blowing out about 1.5 gal. of oil per 100 mi. pulling stock trailer on recent trip to colorado. on return trip i overfilled and did not have to add oil in 700 mi. whats up with this? can vaccum pump pressurize crank case and cause this problem? power is good and truck runs ok. is there a fix or will i have to rebuild engine? thanks; rustynuts.

Also check front case.... could be KDP and where it is going to as you drive could make it look like it is from somewhere else.... Vacuum pump is a good place to check too..... Good luck.

Do a compression test , then theres a tool that I've seen on the tool trucks for checking plowby but never bought one.

Also, check your exhaust pipe and the post turbo boot for signs of oil.

If oil is coming out the blowby there are usually only two potential problems, vacuum leak or engine needs rebuilding.
