Mystery fuel leak

Hey all...

I noticed a small puddle under my truck several weeks ago, and went about checking all my fuel connections. Found a few loose ones, tightened them, and viola! it still leaks.. >

Rick & I replaced the lift pump, thinking it was the suspect. It was due anyway...Again, all fuel connections are tight, but the leak persists...double > >

The leak drips from the drivers side onto the transmission, then drips down off the tranny directly under the truck..Whenever I shut it off, within 5 minutes it will spurt a puddle the size of a donut..not alot of fuel, but annoying nonetheless..

Has anyone experienced a similar situation?? Any suggestions on where it is coming from?? I don't know what else to check..

Re:Mystery fuel leak

Well for what it is worth I put a new lift pump on out of the box and it leaked out of the bottom. Took it to the dealer and they gave me a new one. It is a far chanve, but you might have fixed the first leak and this is a new one out of the lift pump. Hope this helps.

What about cracks in the fuel return line? I remember reading about these cracking.

Re:Mystery fuel leak

That's what I was thinking. Sounds like either a bad fitting or a cracked line. When I put my PE4200 pump on, the truck would leak only when it was turned off. When it was running, the leak would quit. Turned out one of the fittings was bad. Replaced the fitting and voila. It's fixed.
