Truck acting up, lose of power!!!!!

I posted about this a while back and had a suggestion to recalibrate the "apps sensore". I did this and the truck ran great for about three weeks. It started to do it's deal again so I replaced the apps sensore tonight ($353.60) and it still did the same thing! >... I need some ideas here, this is what it is doing.

Driving down the road, know matter what the speed and all of the sudden it looses power, like you just hit a wall. There is no responce from the pedel at all and then wam! It's back again and drives fine. The other day it did this so bad I barely made it to town and on the way back it drove just fine, no problems at all. I noticed in town this morning going to work that it did this at every stop light (killed the truck 3 times). I am at a lose here. The Fuel filter was changed about three weeks ago and made no differance. Could this be a "ECM" problem? Does the ECM need a swift kick in da butt? I am going crazy trying to figure this out!

Thanks for your input. Curt

I suspect a wiring fault. Have you pulled the codes yet?

I would take a good look at the throttle position sensor. It sounds like the truck might not be getting the correct input from the pedal.

Hey 02, don't you have a warrenty? I would take it to the dealer & let them guess @ it if there is a warrenty.

Warrenty is up, I have 41000 miles on her now. I just pulled a code out of her...... P0216, "Fuel injection pump timing failure. What the hell does this mean? ???
Are they talking about the vp44 or the lift pump?
I have to get my butt back to work now. ;D

Re:Truck acting up, lose of power!!!!!

Well I talked to Anchorage Chrystler Dodge Parts guy's and got the price for the VP44 my cost is $1530.00, after we both said a couple of not so nice words about the price he asked me isn't that covered under warrenty? I said no thinking cummins would not cover it under the 100k deal, he said bummer. I hung up the phone in deppression tying my own noose before the call to the wife and my other boss said B.S. you call them back and tell them "THEY WILL FIX IT OR" I won't finish what he said . I called back and talked to service dept. told him the skinny and he said yup, bring it in, VP44 & Lift Pump are covered under the 100k warrenty! He is also going to print me up a list of all the things that fall under the 100k deal, and of course they won't take the APPS Sensore back. My bad on that deal :
I told my truck your going to the shop in the morning to get fixed for free, and of course it drove just fine all the way home, 58miles at 75mph.
Thanks for all your input.

My truck is doing exactly the same thing. I am scared to pay the big $$$$$ for the VP44. I guess that is why I got a good deal on the truck when I bought it this spring

I am curious to see if it is what caused your problem.

Dog,

While they have the Injector pump off, you should try and have them do this TSB...

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2002/09-002-02.htm

Ive wanted to get it done, but am uneasy with having the dealer remove my VP...just a thought.

I know that may be pushing it but it doesnt hurt to ask....
