Just rembered something. I didn't have a tranny jack for any of this which made it real difficult to start with. When I put the tranny in this last time I noticed some of the fingers the t/o bearing presses onto were bent a lil. Could have been my head turned sideways under the truck though. Could this be a problem too?

 

Yes. If you bent the clutch fingers you could have problems getting it to release.
